Advocacy & Collaboration at JRC

The Get Out the Vote Initiative is a non-partisan effort to increase voter participation in our congregation and our community through education, registration drives, and outreach. The initiative will enlist volunteers for activities such as transporting people to the polls and will provide information about registration and early voting via social media and phone banking. Durham CAN: Durham Congregations, Associations, and Neighborhoods (CAN) is a community organization that focuses on the power of more than 20 local organizations to make our community more just.

Families Moving Forward: We volunteer to work directly with homeless adults and children being provided a temporary home in Durham.

Reconciliation and Reentry Faith Team: Judea Reform is a partner with the Religious Coalition for a Nonviolent Durham and, through this partnership, we sponsor a Faith Team, a small group of congregants who work with a recent parolee to help that person transition back into the community. We currently have one Faith Team but we will be organizing a new Faith Team in the spring and we need new volunteers. This is a unique and powerful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in one person's life. CONTACT Chip Carnathan

Durham Congregations in Action: DCIA is a consortium of 57 Durham churches and synagogues whose mission is to organize, implement and support a number of outreach activities and agencies in Durham. DCIA provides support, resources, and services to the homeless and hungry and offers interfaith networking opportunities to address the basic needs of Durham's citizens.
