Approved Caterers

The following caterers are listed on Judea Reform’s Approved Caterers list:

Note: Since Judea Reform is a synagogue, there are certain dietary policies to which we ask that all hosts, guests, and caterers adhere. You can find the dietary policies here.

There is a process for new caterers to become approved; please contact Juliet Jensen at (919) 489-7062 ext. 222 for more information. We are also happy to accommodate if you plan to bring in your own homemade or store-bought food.

Dietary Policy

Food brought into Judea Reform Congregation’s (JRC’s) buildings should adhere to the congregation’s dietary policies. Though JRC does not keep a kosher kitchen, there are certain restrictions that members, caterers, and renters should be aware of and must adhere to.

  1. Pork products are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Sausage
    • Pancetta
    • Prosciutto
    • Bacon and bacon bits
    • Pepperoni
    • Pork chops
    • Ham
  2. Shellfish are prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Mussels
    • Clams
    • Lobster
    • Shrimp
    • Scallops
  3. Meat and dairy should not be served in the same dish. They may, however, be served at the same meal, so individuals may choose to pair them.
    1. Example: Meat lasagna with cheese is not appropriate; vegetarian lasagna with meatballs on the side is appropriate. Pre-made beef & cheese burritos are not appropriate; a taco bar where meat and cheese are served separately is appropriate.
  4.
  5. During the week before Passover and the eight days of Passover (typically March/April), leavened products are not to be brought on the premises, to allow for proper cleaning of the buildings in preparation of Passover. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Any leavened grain: wheat, oat, rye, barley, spelt
    • Beer
    • Soy and soy products
    • Crackers
    • Wheat noodles
    • Pasta & pasta products
    • Bread & bread products

Alcohol may only be served by a licensed bartender or caterer. If alcohol is to be served, Host must provide proof of the caterer’s liquor license and liquor liability insurance at least one month before the scheduled event.
